Question 1

Where are your plants grown?

Accepted Answer

All our hedging plants, shrubs and conifers are grown by a partner nursery in Lancashire. The nursery has over 30 years' experience growing hedging and ornamental plants. Your order is dispatched from the Lancashire nursery rather than being collected from a Garden Hedges shop. The carrier route and delivery time depend on the destination and the size of the consignment.

Question 2

Are your hedging plants British grown?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The partner nursery that grows and dispatches our plants is based in Lancashire, England. Every plant is raised on that nursery, using British growing conditions and expertise. Growing plants in Lancashire exposes them to British seasonal conditions, although their suitability for your garden still depends on the species, local temperatures, soil and exposure.

Question 3

Can I visit the nursery or collect plants?

Accepted Answer

We are an online plant shop and do not offer nursery visits or customer collections. All orders are dispatched by delivery. If you have questions about a plant before you order, call us on 0333 533 0162 and we can talk through the details, including the size and condition you can expect on arrival.

Question 4

How long has the nursery been growing hedging?

Accepted Answer

The partner nursery that supplies Garden Hedges has been growing hedging, conifers and garden shrubs for more than 30 years. That experience covers a wide range of species, from native hedging like hawthorn and privet to evergreens such as yew, cherry laurel and Leylandii.

Question 5

How quickly will my plants be dispatched?

Accepted Answer

We work to get orders on their way promptly. Check the delivery information for the service available to your postcode. Bare root plants are only dispatched during the dormant season, roughly November to March. Potted plants are available year-round, subject to stock.

Question 6

What should I do when my hedging plants arrive?

Accepted Answer

Unpack the plants as soon as they arrive and check that the roots are moist. If you cannot plant immediately, stand potted plants in a sheltered spot and keep the compost damp. Bare root plants should be heeled into moist soil or stored with the roots wrapped and damp until planting.
