Privacy policy

When you buy plants from Garden Hedges, create an account or get in touch, we need certain personal information to deal with your request. This notice explains what we collect, how we use and protect it, who we share it with and your rights under UK data protection law. It also covers enquiries made by telephone, email or post.

Who we are and how to contact us

Garden Hedges is a trading name of Infused Media Limited (company number 10091071), registered in England and Wales. Infused Media Limited is responsible for the personal information covered by this notice. If you have a question about your information or want to exercise a privacy right, contact Garden Hedges on 0333 533 0162, email info@gardenhedges.co.uk or write to Garden Hedges, Suite 114b Business First, Davyfield Road, Blackburn, Lancashire BB1 2QY.

When contacting us about your information, tell us what you need and include enough detail for us to find the relevant records. Please do not send payment card details or identity documents unless we have specifically asked for them and explained why.

Information held by this website

Cookies help keep your basket and checkout working as you move between pages. WooCommerce uses them to recognise your shopping session and remember the plants you have added. If you enable recently viewed plants in your cookie settings, your browser can also remember up to four product references. This optional feature uses browser storage rather than a separate cookie and does not record your name, email address or payment details. Account and order information is handled separately, although browser session identifiers may be linked to a transaction.

If you create an optional account, we store the account details you provide, including your name and email address. Your password is used to authenticate your account. Once signed in, you can view and update your account details. An account can save you entering the same information when you order again, but you can still buy plants without creating one.

When you send a message through the contact form, the details you enter (including your name, email address and any information in the message) are emailed to our inbox at info@gardenhedges.co.uk. Contact form messages are delivered to our email inbox rather than retained as a separate contact form entry. The email and any related correspondence may be kept while we deal with your enquiry or meet applicable record-keeping requirements.

If you sign up for email updates, your email address is stored on our website until it is moved to our email marketing platform. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email or by contacting us.

When you contact Garden Hedges

If you telephone, email or write to us, we use the details you provide to answer your question, discuss a planting project or deal with a concern. Depending on your enquiry, this may include your name, contact details, postcode, plant choices, boundary measurements and correspondence.

Please give us information relevant to your request. If you are enquiring for somebody else or providing a different delivery contact, make sure you are entitled to share their details and tell them about this notice.

Marketing and subscriptions

We only send marketing emails if you have signed up for them. Placing an order or contacting us does not automatically add you to a mailing list. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to stop marketing messages by emailing info@gardenhedges.co.uk or calling 0333 533 0162.

Who can access your information

When you order, the information needed to fulfil the purchase may be shared with our Lancashire partner nursery and the appointed delivery carrier. This can include your name, delivery address, contact details, plant selections and quantity. Payment is processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and handles your card details directly; we do not see or store your full card number.

Information kept in your browser's local storage, such as recently viewed product references, can be accessed by someone using the same browser. This locally saved information is separate from the details you submit when placing an order or completing a form. Cookies and session identifiers may still be exchanged with the website to support browsing and checkout.

For a telephone, email or postal enquiry, access is limited to people who need the information to deal with the matter. We may also disclose relevant information where a legal duty requires it or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. We do not publish customer correspondence.

Telephone networks, email providers and postal services also handle information when you contact us through them. Please avoid including sensitive or unrelated personal details in your enquiry.

The website uses Google Analytics through Google Site Kit with Google Consent Mode. Google Analytics only sets its _ga and _ga_<id> cookies (which can last up to two years) after you accept analytics in the consent banner. Where you consent to analytics, Google Analytics may process information about page views, device characteristics, browser activity and online identifiers. This information is not necessarily anonymous under data protection law. Google's privacy information explains its handling of the data. The site does not contain advertising tags or social media tracking plugins. Following an external link takes you to a separate organisation, whose own privacy notice then applies.

How long information is kept

The browser storage periods are set out in our cookie policy. Basket information remains until you clear it. Checkout information and the order confirmation page normally end when the browser tab session ends. Browser restore settings can sometimes restore a previous session, so use the clear-data control if you want to remove it immediately.

We keep enquiries and correspondence for as long as we need them to answer questions, follow up on requests or resolve complaints. Order and accounting records are normally kept for six years. Some records may need to be retained longer to meet a legal obligation or establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. How long we keep other information depends on its purpose, any applicable record-keeping requirements and whether a related matter remains unresolved. We limit retention to what is necessary and delete or anonymise personal information when there is no longer a legal or operational reason to keep it.

Keeping information secure

Please take care when using a shared device. Other people using the same browser may be able to see a saved basket or checkout preview. Clear your saved data and close the tab when you have finished.

We limit access to correspondence to those who need it and take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure. No website or communication method can promise complete security. If you believe information has been sent to the wrong person, contact us promptly.

Your privacy rights

UK data protection law gives you rights over your personal information. You can ask to see what we hold, correct inaccurate details or request deletion. You may also have the right to restrict how we use your information or receive certain information you provided in a reusable format. Some rights depend on the circumstances, and we may need to retain records to comply with the law.

You have the right to object to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests. Tell us about your circumstances so we can consider your request. You can object to direct marketing at any time.

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. For recently viewed plants and analytics cookies, use the cookie settings control. Withdrawing consent does not affect use of information before you withdrew it.

Contact us using the details above. We normally respond to a data protection rights request without undue delay and within one calendar month. If the law permits an extension, or we reasonably need further information to verify identity or clarify the request, we will explain the position and any revised deadline.

We do not use automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you. Search suggestions are used to help you find plants and relevant information.

Questions and complaints

If you are concerned about how your information has been handled, please contact Garden Hedges so we can look into it. We will acknowledge data protection complaints within 30 days and investigate the concerns raised. We will explain our findings and next steps without undue delay, taking account of any applicable UK data protection complaint-handling requirements.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK data protection regulator. You do not have to wait for our permission to contact the ICO.

Cookies and changes to this notice

On your first visit a banner offers 'Accept analytics' or 'Reject analytics'. No optional cookies run until you choose. Your choice is stored in the cookies wp_consent_statistics, wp_consent_statistics-anonymous and wp_consent_marketing for 180 days. You can change your preference at any time from the 'Cookie settings' link in the footer or the preferences panel on the cookie policy page. Read our cookie policy for the full browser storage table and controls for optional recently viewed plants and analytics. This notice was last updated on 24 October 2026. We will update it if the website or our use of personal information changes.
